
Portraits of Paralympians in recognisition
of their achievements

Paralympians are responsible for winning seven times more Gold Medals than Olympians in a third of the time, yet little documentation of their achievement exists.
Hackney-based photo-artist Clare Newton set out to make photographic portraits of the many GB Paralympians, whether they are veterans or current day champions, whose contributions to society are hugely important on so many different levels.

The team includes John Stubbs, already a two-time Paralympian and Beijing 2008 gold medallist, and John Cavanagh, who has competed at every Games since Sydney in 2000. John Stubbs said today: "Rio 2016 will be my third Games and I feel just as proud today as I did when I was selected to represent ParalympicsGB for the first time in Beijing. "Going to the Paralympics is the biggest honour an athlete can achieve and I really hope to do the nation proud again as the team did at London 2012.

Former rally driver Pete Littler is the first disabled British GT competitor as part of a new factory Aston Martin Racing effort. The 51-year-old has purchased a new Vantage GT3 from the Prodrive factory and will run it under his PFL Motorsport team.
